Open all hours

A look into why investigating your Veterinary Practice’s out of hours policy is so important.

Thankfully, not all pets will need to use an emergency service, but if your pet ever does have an emergency, knowing where you are going and which vet you are going to see in advance is so important. Often, it is not until the moment you need them that you look into your Vet’s emergency policy.

At Kingsclere Vets, we have chosen to be there for you 24 hours a day. That means, whatever time you need us, we will be there. Unfortunately, our pets don’t know the day or time- which usually means they manage to choose 10pm on a Saturday to do something silly like swallow their ball, or eat a punnet of grapes! We also can’t predict when they could, god forbid, become seriously unwell, and you need to see a vet immediately. Driving to your local practice and seeing a familiar face, who has your pet’s medical records to hand can provide some reassurance in what could potentially be a very stressful situation.

Covering our own out of hours in house also means if your pet is unwell and needs to be hospitalised, they can stay with us and our team, in our state of the art kennels or cattery. This allows us to continue their treatment plans, uninterrupted, throughout their stay with us.

To help our team provide this service to our clients, we ask everyone to be as respectful as they can when calling us at night. If it is something that you feel could wait until the morning, it would really help our team get a good night’s sleep and be fresh to help you the next day. We are always happy to provide advice on the phone, so please do call us as soon as you realise there might be a problem with your pet, rather than worrying alone till late at night- and then ringing us! It might be that we could have helped you hours earlier, and everyone would then get a good night’s sleep.

Hopefully you will never need us in an emergency, but we are proud to always be there for our clients, whenever you might need us.
