An Animal Health Certificate (AHC) allows UK residents to travel with their dog, cat or ferret to EU countries and Northern Ireland. It confirms that your pet meets the required health and identification standards for travel.
At Kingsclere Vets, our OV66-certified vets can issue Animal Health Certificates and guide you through the process, helping pet owners across Kingsclere, Newbury, Basingstoke and the surrounding Hampshire and Berkshire area travel with confidence.
We recommend booking your Animal Health Certificate appointment at least 2–4 weeks before you travel. This allows enough time to check your pet’s microchip, vaccination status and any destination-specific requirements.
If you’re travelling at short notice, Kingsclere Vets also offers urgent Animal Health Certificate appointments, subject to availability.
Before travelling, your pet will usually need a compliant microchip, a valid rabies vaccination and an Animal Health Certificate. Some countries also require a rabies blood test or additional parasite treatments. Our experienced team will advise you on the specific entry requirements for your destination and ensure your pet is fully prepared for travel.
Yes. Our OV66-certified vets can issue Export Health Certificates (EHCs) for pets travelling to countries outside the EU where additional documentation is required. As export requirements vary between countries, we’ll guide you through the process and ensure all necessary health checks and paperwork are completed correctly.
